- RESULTS -
Opening Segment: After the matches are announced, the commentators remind us that after being brutally attacked by the nWo last Monday, Scott Hall's condition is questionable and it is possible that he may not be able to compete in the main event...
"Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright Def. Disco Inferno (4:13): After a back-and-forth battle between these two dueling dancers, it was unanimous. The crowd demanded a final dance-off to determine the one true winner. Inferno had dominated the match but the true star was Alex Wright. His out danced Inferno by miles and fed up, Disco attacked again. Wright was able to reverse his attack and capitalize as he gained a stolen roll up victory over Disco. Disco threw a fit and Wright loved every second of it as he made his way up the walkway.
Dean Malenko Won The Cruiserweight Open (12:47): This one was a can not miss. After a real effort from all involved, Dean Malenko was able to pull out an upset victory over the fan preferred, Rey Mysterio Jr. The final three included Ultimo Dragon, Mysterion Jr., and Malenko and after the two friends teamed to eliminate Ultimo Dragon... they put on a razor-sharp wrestling match against one another. It was the Texas Cloverleaf that did Rey in, as he tapped to the submission hold after holding on for a full minute. "The Man Of 1000 Holds" Dean Malenko is now the #1 contender for the Cruiserweight Championship.
Rick & Scott Steiner Def. Kevin Nash & The Giant (7:50): In a shocking upset, The Steiner Brother were able to retain their WCW Tag Team Championships against the deadly nWo. The Giant dominated both Rick and Scott in the early going, not needing to tag Nash in once. The two worked as a long-term cohesive unit however and forced The Giant to finally tag out. Nash didn't fare as well as his partner and quickly found himself the victim of a real beat down at the hands of the Steiners. Scott finished off Nash with a huge, straining pump-handle slam.
"The Total Package" Lex Luger Def. Sting (0:13): Even after Luger briefly talked himself up before the bell rang, there still wasn't an ounce of Sting in sight. The ref called for the bell and began the count and was able to reach ten without an appearance from Sting. Luger seamed very displeased and again, grabbed a microphone.
Post-Match Segment: An enraged Luger demanded that Sting show his face immediately, as he had heard the rumor that Sting had arrived at the arena earlier in the day. After minutes of silence from Luger and roaring boos from the crowd, theme music finally began and a Sting appeared at the stage. He ran into the ring and Luger immediately met the man with a clothesline. Realizing how easily the man went down, it was soon well known to Luger and the crowd that the man was an impostor in Sting's signature lime-green and white face paint and attire. Luger snapped and ran backstage.
Pre-Match Interview: In a brief interview with Cruiserweight challenger Eddie Guerrero, Eddie basically summed up his thoughts by saying that Chris Jericho would be going home five pounds lighter and a lot colder after he leaves the arena hairless and title-less. He also stated that he made a promise himself and his family a win here tonight and Jericho would not be the one that would make him break that promise.
Chris Jericho Def. Eddie Guerrero (9:19): After Chris Jericho mentally beat Guerrero early-on within the match, beating him physically became much easier as the match progressed. It was obvious that Eddie had been lured off his game. Jericho was there to capitalize every time Eddie was caught slipping and it seemed Jericho beat him to every punch. Adding insult to injury, Jericho hit Eddie with a frog splash and placed his foot upon Eddie's chest and flexed to gain the pin fall. Guerrero was then shaved bald by Jericho himself and taken away by an obvious Jericho-hired "border patrol" force. After using Eddie's hair as a fake mustache, Jericho cockily walked to the back.
Big Bubba Rogers Def. Bagwell & Norton (7:07): The big man got his retribution tonight after one-upping the nWo members that attacked he and Hall last Monday. the two fought an entirely dirty match and they still weren't able to put Rogers away for good. After coming back from somewhat of a beating, Rogers suplexed both opponents at the same time and splashed then both, one on top of the other for the victory.
Pre-Match Interview: As Ric Flair is seen at the tail end of an interview, he brings in a man from his left. Ted DiBiase stands at Ric's said and positions the mic away from Gene Okerlund and to his mouth. He said, "Ric, let me tell you brother, I have your back. No Flock will be bothering you tonight my man because, I have personally hired a security force to watch the ring during your match tonight!" He continued," I knew when you personally called me earlier in the week Ric, that something was bothering ya', so I took care of your problem... I'm your ace in the hole tonight and not even that sleazeball, classless man Raven can do anything about it!" Both Ric Flair and DiBiase walked out of frame laughing.
Raven Def. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (11:50): This match was said to have stolen the show. The difference in styles really made the match an interesting watch as Flair applied his technical skill to try and mesh with Raven's no-nonsense brash style. The security provided by DiBiase aslo proved to be a lifesaver for Flair as The Flock did attempt to interfere and help Raven. After seeing that there would be no help from his cronies, Raven turned up the heat and really started pouring it on. Ric Flair was hurting and it was obvious as Raven began to adopt Flair's signature holds and submissions. Raven folded Flair with a Evenflow DDT and could have pinned Flair right there. Instead, he doubled down and did a second one, this time Flair landed directly on his head before falling. Raven grabbed the U.S. Title and pushed through the security force, only to meet face-to-face with Ted DiBiase at the stage. Raven shoved Ted's face away and continued to the back,Ted then stumbled backward and ran down to the ring to check on Flair.
Scott Hall Def. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan (13:00): The final showdown of these two titans was something that had built tension in the air all night. After a delay, Scott Hall finally entered and seemed to only be at about 70%, showing a pain in his side. Hogan seemed a bit surprised to see Hall show up but was technically unaffected, as he beat Scott Hall down early on. Hogan pinpointed the cause of Hall's pain and whipped the area with his weightlifting belt. Hall was able to mount a slight offense as the match continued, up until Hogan relied on dirty tactics to get the better of him again. In the end, Hall resorted to Last-Calling Hogan from the second rope and finally hitting his Outsider's Edge to gain the pin. Hall was awarded the World Championship and it was much deserved.
Closing Segment: Hall is seen celebrating his title win as Big Bubba Rogers appears ringside with The Steiners and many other WCW roster members to celebrate his win over Hogan and the bad night for the entire nWo. Hall got on a mic and announced to Hogan and the rest of the nWo who had collected at the stage, "Ayo, nWo...Every dog has his day, Chico! Survey says: one more for the good guys..." He then signaled the famous "4-Life" hand sign, followed by a crotch-chopping "Suck It".
"Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright Def. Disco Inferno (4:13): After a back-and-forth battle between these two dueling dancers, it was unanimous.
